Bug Barn is a marketplace. Keepers list animals, buyers pay the platform, and the seller’s share is held until the buyer confirms the animals arrived. Bug Barn is not the keeper of the animals and does not guarantee that a parcel will arrive alive.

Bug Barn is Australia-only. Listings, buyers, and deliveries stay inside Australia. International shipping is not offered. Australia Post accepts only harmless live invertebrates, and only by Express Post.

You can buy and sell with one account. You must not list an animal that is illegal for you to keep or to send to the states you tick. The legal confirmation on the listing form is yours, not a permit from Bug Barn.

Some groups are switched off: tarantulas, other spiders, scorpions, centipedes, and ants. If an admin turns a venomous group on, the seller has to declare the animal and the buyer has to confirm they are 18 or older. That checkbox is not an identity check.

Western Australia and Tasmania start blocked. The Northern Territory starts flagged. Admins can change those rules. Checkout enforces the current rules against the delivery state.

The platform fee is 10% unless the operator changes the setting. Bug Barn is GST-registered, and that fee is GST-inclusive: GST is one eleventh of the fee. The fee comes out of the listing price. The buyer does not pay the fee, or any extra GST, on top. Item prices are the sellers’ own sales. Each paid order is a tax invoice for Bug Barn’s fee only, in the name Bug Barn. Stripe Tax is not used.

Either party can open a dispute while an order is paid or shipped. The payout stays on hold. An admin can cancel the order, which restores stock and, when Stripe is connected, refunds that order’s share of the charge.

We may remove a listing or suspend an account that looks unlawful, misleading, or cruel. Suspended people cannot log in.
